In my years of hiring, I have observed that Traveller, Photographer are the most common thing one sees on people’s interest / hobbies section in the resume.

A lot more information about undiscovered places, the ease of travel (pre-covid times), along with the high end camera on phones, made this possible.

Now, considering the rise of creator economy, we could also see, writer / content creator being added to this list.

This also means the rise of multitasking, that is the ability to do many things. In this case, travel → shoot → write → publish. Creative professionals have been used to this form of multitasking forever, and with the creator economy, more people are creating content to become one.

The one thing that the Creator economy does well is to reignite the passion of people to do things they have enjoyed or have some flair for. Things start as a hobby and then people get good at it by doing it consistently, over and over again.

The Creator Economy is setting high benchmarks in the quality of Creative Content.

So the videos on youtube, publishing written or audio visual content on different channels, being available as a freelance content person are other trends that will continue to rise.

Designing good quality engaging content is a skillset. Designing platforms that will drive the creator economy is exciting and we will see more such platforms being created.

We will need to create platforms that nudge people towards their Creative Confidence. As David and Tom Kelly write in their book Creative Confidence, we need to learn from the Artists. They have an innate ability to create without Fear. They are great at expressing themselves.

A friend, Rajiv Surya, an experience designer with Deloitte Digital, pitches in One of the in-depth learning we can take from Artists is their constant inspiration-seeking, consistent introspection & always striving to express themselves. I won’t say they don’t fear but they do master the skill of overcoming it quickly. It’s a human quality, to always keep expressing ourselves, in whichever possible way, as it always leads to what’s within you.

With multiple distribution channels available, and audiences waiting to consume content, there is a lot of content creation happening.
